Welcome to the new blog of Denture and Dental Services! Dr. Peter Masone will use his 35+ years of dental experience to explain relevant dental news, answer questions from patients, and give insight into various dental procedures. He will also showcase individual dental treatments to explain how patients can achieve their dental goals and ultimately live a more happy and healthy life.
For our first blog post, we will provide a glimpse into the benefits of restorative dentistry offered to our patients in the Northwest Florida area. We are pleased to provide a wide selection of the latest treatments, from a simple teeth whitening procedure to dental implants. We often combine multiple procedures to give our patients a full-mouth reconstruction.
What Is Restorative Dentistry?
Restorative dentistry is a branch of dentistry that deals primarily with the replacement and restoration of lost or damaged teeth. Dr. Masone has dedicated his professional career to becoming a "smile architect". His skills gained from dental school are combined with years of clinical experience, advanced training, and continuing education to not only understand teeth, but also gums, facial features, and lips. With over 35 years of experience in all phases of general dentistry and prosthodontics, Dr. Masone has been recognized by the nation's top dentists for his special technique and process of providing his patients with the top level of dental quality and efficiency at a low cost.
What Is Prosthodontics?
The term prosthodontics comes from the terms prosthesis and odont. Prosthesis means addition or attachment while odont refers to teeth. Most of the procedures offered by Dr. Masone involve replacing the natural teeth partially or fully with substitutes that are biocompatible. Our team of professionals works closely with patients to determine which services are most appropriate for the goals and budget. There are many different ways Dr. Masone will fix broken or damaged teeth including:
Dentures
Dr. Masone offers a wide range of denture options, including Same-Day Dentures, Complete dentures, Partial dentures, and Implant Dentures. Dentures improve the appearance of someone who is missing lots of teeth, especially the front teeth. When fitted correctly into the mouth, they are great replacements. All of our dentures are made with the best materials and incorporate some of the most advanced techniques for comfort, fit, and function. Our team starts with a free consultation appointment with customers to decide what type of denture is best, and then works with them, guiding them through the process to ensure they are knowledgeable every step of the way.
Dental Implants
If you lose your tooth or teeth, it becomes necessary to replace the root and the crown. Implants are considered the gold standard in modern teeth replacement. Implants are made of a root made of titanium that is screwed into the jaw. Once the titanium post has been screwed into the two, the implant is placed on it. This method can be used to replace a single tooth or multiple teeth. Implants are also used to support dentures and bridges. The procedure is simple. Dr. Masone takes an impression of your teeth, designs, and places the crowns on the titanium post. While implants are initially costly, they can last a lifetime, offering you value for money.
Fixed Bridges
This is a method of tooth replacement that makes use of the existing teeth, also called abutment teeth on both sides of the tooth gap to support an artificial tooth. Dr. Masone will prepare a series of crowns designed as a single unit and then install it on the abutment teeth. Abutment teeth act like foundation, holding the crown for the missing tooth. However, bridges are temporary teeth-replacement structures that need care and utmost maintenance. When care is not taken, they can damage otherwise healthy teeth.
Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are wafer-thin shells made of ceramic or porcelain. These veneers cover the front part of teeth, changing your appearance. Veneers are bonded to the teeth occupying the space where a small enamel has been scrapped off to make them not appear bulky. Some veneers are long-lasting and change the color, shape, and size of your teeth. Crowns: These are caps that cover the entire outer surface of a tooth above the gum. Crowns can be made of metal, porcelain, or all-ceramic. These crowns are cemented to a prepared tooth with roots. Crowns are normally used after a root canal or other procedures that result in damaged teeth.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments. Both fast-acting and affordable, it is the easiest way for many people to improve the appearance of their smile. However, where teeth are very badly stained or have suffered from chips and cracks, dental veneers may be a more effective procedure. This involves replacing a fine layer of the affected surface of the tooth with an equivalent thickness of porcelain which is then trimmed and polished to give a natural appearance.
